Before I move on to Miss Universe 2012 pageant, I want to feature someone again from Miss Earth. So here it goes…

I remember the first time I watched Miss Earth in a local channel in the Philippines. It was February 2006 and I accidentally found that there will be a replay of Miss Earth 2005. I didn’t know then who the winner was and wasn’t aware of Miss Earth until that night.

I wasn’t rooting for any contestant but keep my eyes glued on a particular contestant, which is Alexandra Braun of Venezuela. I’m not really sure why but maybe because Venezuela is the country to beat in a beauty pageant.

Venezuela made it all the way to the Final Four, where she was called last but definitely not the least. The final question was “If you are to save one of these two elements of Mother Nature, water or air, which will you choose and why?”

The first three girls weren’t able to choose one from air and water and said both elements are very important, thus choosing one is not possible. Then Venezuela came along and didn’t follow the answer the girls before her. Her answer was Air, because it gives us life and it’s what we breathe.

Realizing her answer now, it was like “Boom, ok, she was the clear winner”. A very intelligent answer. Short but indeed meaty and powerful. Self Explanatory. That made her win the crown

I wonder where she is now. Wikipedia tells that she is a household name in Venezuela.

It’s been 7 years since Alexandra won and Venezuela is working hard to duplicate Alexandra’s performance. It’s on the way but Miss Earth is recently giving the crowns to those who have yet to win their Miss Earth. The thing here is that “wait patiently Venezuela. Your 2nd Miss Earth crown is there, just wait, wait.”
