Coronation Street fans may have got to know Bruce Jones on screen for over a decade, but it’s likely they’ll have done a second take when seeing his latest project.

The actor, 70, played taxi driver Les Battersby on the ITV soap from 1997 until 2007.

However, his exit came after he got into hot water and was suspended after allegedly getting drunk with an undercover reporter, making inappropriate comments and revealing future storylines.

In the years since he’s appeared in several feature films, as well as a few stints on reality shows like Come Dine With Me, Celebrity Wife Swap and Celebrity Big Brother.

He also took part in the documentary Celebs on Benefits in 2015, which followed famous faces who had fallen upon hard times and relied on social security payments to get by.

But now he is back on our screens again, on Hulu’s Bitesize Halloween series, in an episode titled The Heritage.

Described as a ‘twisted tale with a dark sense of humour’, the eleven-minute episode follows a character called Dylan who is nervous about meeting his biological father for the first time, and ‘has every reason to be’.

After a significant makeover, Bruce appears play the boy’s father, who looks to be some sort of monster.

The Heritage, which premiered in the United States last year, was directed by Andrew Rutter and also stars Kathryn Georghiou, Matt McClure and Emily Swain.

The last time we saw Bruce on screen was when he opened about how he was infamously wrapped up in the Yorkshire Ripper case.

Speaking about what happened that day, Bruce shared his story in the documentary The Ripper.

While a petition to bring him back to Corrie took off in 2015, and Bruce was spotted near the Blackpool set the following year, calls for him to return have yet to happen.

Back in 2007, Les was written out, with his exit explaining he went on tour as a roadie for tribute band ZZ Top O’ The Morning.

Soon after he was dumped from the soap, Bruce said that he hadn’t expected to have lost his job, but that he left the soap ‘by mutual consent’.

In 2016 a spokesperson for the series said there were no plans to bring him back.
