Die Hard and Melrose Place actress Selma Archerd has died aged 98.

The well-known Hollywood star was also the wife of longtime Variety columnist Army Archerd.

Archerd died on December 14 in Los Angeles, according to a Legacy.com posting on the Los Angeles Times’s website.

Her family described her as a ‘devoted mother and grandmother’, assuring that she died ‘peacefully’.

She is remembered for having starred as a hostage in the 1988 Bruce Willis movie Die Hard, as well as playing the role of Nurse Amy in 25 episodes of Fox’s soap Melrose Place from 1995 to 1999.

The late actress made a range of cameos from the 1970s through to the 1990s in various films and in TV shows, including Lethal Weapon, Lethal Weapon 3, The Brady Bunch, and Serpico.

Armand ‘Army’ Archerd was the actress’s second husband, whom she married a month after her divorce was finalised.

They reportedly first met when she was 16 and he was 19, but they reconnected 28 years later.

‘I am very proud of him and I am very fierce about protecting the status of what he is,’ she said.
