Impatiens x hawkeri SONIC ‘Sweet Orange’ (syn. ‘Fisnics Sweor’) – This cultivar features large creamy-orange blooms punctuated with a small white eye and some deeper orange highlights. These are nicely contrasted by dark green to bronze lance-shaped foliage. New Guinea impatiens tolerates full sun in coastal BC but prefers 4-5 hours of afternoon shade. Grows 10-12″ high. Zone 9-10.

Impatiens x hawkeri HARMONY ‘Pink Smile’ – The large pearly pink blossoms are borne all summer long over glossy deep green foliage. New Guinea impatiens were bred by crossing several species including Impatiens hawkeri, I. schlechteri and Impatiens platypetala. This Danziger introduction has a mounding growth habit. Grows 12″ high by 16″ wide. Hardy to zone 9-10.

Impatiens x hawkeri ‘Painted Paradise Lilac’ – A truly spectacular cultivar with very large deep lilac (verging on violet) blooms contrasted beautifully by exotic looking foliage of dark green with gold inset variegation and some red veining. This is a great stand-alone choice for using in hanging baskets or containers. Grows 18″ high by 12″ wide. Hardy to zone 9-10.

Impatiens x hawkeri HARMONY ‘Fuchsia Groove’ – This New Guinea impatiens features deep fuchsia pink flowers that sit just above a dome of dark green (with some bronzing) lance-shaped foliage. This introduction from Danziger will bloom from late spring through to early autumn. These plants prefer evenly moist soils that drain well. Grows 12″ high by 16″ wide. Zone 9-10.

Impatiens x hawkeri HARMONY ‘Orange Blaze’ – The intense orange blooms of this New Guinea impatiens lends itself to planting with deep purple annuals such as Petunia and Heliotrope. Do not plant Impatiens x hawkeri in the garden until the soil has warmed, as these plants dislike cold temperatures and will only sulk or rot. Grows 12″ high by 16″ wide. Hardy to zone 9-10.
