With lemon yellow flowers in May & June, MO Primrose is one of the state's showiest native wildflowers. The flowers are pollinated by moths. Each flower is open about 24 hours beginning in the evening. Peak blooming period lasts about 3 weeks in late May & June with occasional flowers into September. Pulling off old blooms may help stimulate more flower production. The plants are weak-stemmed and trail over the ground. They become quite large and many-stemmed in cultivation. A good plant for rock gardens where they will hang down over rocks or ties. This is a glade species that tolerates dry, hot conditions very well.
