Yellow crownbeard isn't often a first choice for formal, tidy landscapes, but wildlife certainly appreciate it and it's great for native bees. In bloom, it vaguely resembles some of the sunflowers, but they bloom later in the year. The seed it produces is similar in size to sunflower seeds and is eaten by birds and small mammals. Yellow crownbeard is easy to grow and we frequently incorporate it in our seed mixes.
