About the Artist

Tantara began to study art formally in Montgomery Blair High School’s magnet arts program, continuing at Montgomery College Rockville where she completed a degree in graphic design in 2003. During that time she participated in numerous artist alley exhibitions at pop culture conventions such as Katsucon, Otakon, and Anime Boston. In 2006 she attended the Ernest G. Welch School of Art & Design at Georgia State University in Atlanta, Georgia, and began to study printmaking along with drawing, painting, and sculpture, graduating in 2010 earning a BA in studio art with a minor in Japanese language. Tantara began hosting DIY art shows in Atlanta with The Harold Group art collective from 2007-2012 along with her roommates to help bridge the gap between school and professional galleries. In 2018, Tantara began volunteering at Pyramid Atlantic Art Center in Hyattsville, MD. She remains active at PAAC as a member artist and volunteers regularly, participating in exhibitions and events.
