Last Friday was a truly special day as Syuqry Ismail ACMA, CGMA and I presented our Sustainability Report to our two core external partners, the copywriters, with whom we worked closely from February to May 2023. These two amazing individuals poured their hearts and souls into this project, sacrificing sleep and time with loved ones to ensure its excellence. Handing over the report was more than just a small gesture. As a client, we deeply understand the importance of showing gratitude and respect to our external stakeholders, who played a pivotal role in the success of our project. Here's why giving credit where it's due is absolutely crucial: ✅ Recognizing and appreciating the efforts of all fosters a culture of mutual support and respect, which leads to stronger motivation among team members. ✅ Acknowledging each other's efforts builds trust and strengthens working relationships, paving the way for effective collaboration and a willingness to go the extra mile for future projects. ✅ Showing gratitude and respect to external partners lays the foundation for long-lasting partnerships, demonstrating our commitment to value their expertise and input. 2015: I founded Gateway of Asia, which aimed to help businesses grow easier in Singapore. Well, I was bored with my corporate job. 2016: I worked from a coworking space, constantly on the go and that tired me out. Many times, I thought maybe it wasn’t for me, maybe I should give up. 2017. I opened up our own physical office. Company costs soared, and I was stressed out. But it gave me the urge to work harder. I gotta make it, the biz gotta grow stronger. 2019. Biz went well, I made my self-promise in 2017. 2020. Covid hit. We didn’t struggle thanks to the digitalization work I had done earlier on. 2021. Gateway did even better during COVID. We moved to a new bigger office. 2022: A lot of staff left for higher pay elsewhere. My team went through a massive restructuring and I had two staff left. It sucked, seeing people leaving you. Also 2022: I told myself, it’s time for a big venture. I grew the team and opened regional offices in Malaysia and Vietnam. That was the spirit. 2023: Working with a team of 15 amazing people. I made it to Accounting & Finance Show Asia Series's Top 100 Accounting & Finance Leaders. Running a business has its highs and lows.   But you need to hang in there and keep your self-promise. The next great thing might just be around next year.
