Around 12:15pm an confirmed tornado by the National Weather Service touched down in Saraland, Alabama.

The Plantation Motel, located at 1010 Saraland Blvd South, in Saraland, Alabama suffered significant damage.

Saraland Police said there were 3 reported injuries in Saraland, Alabama from the tornado all of which were minor.

Alabama Power crews as well as Alabama Department of Transportation are on scene trying to restore power and traffic lights in the area.

At this time the area of Highway 43 and Cleveland Road is restricted to one lane in each direction due to storm damage and debris as well as the traffic lights being out.

Please avoid the area by using an alternate route if possible. The Saraland boat launch located Ruben Ave in Saraland is closed, due to flood waters in the area

Please avoid traveling through this area.

The entrance to Spanish Trace Subdivision at Celeste Road is impassable due to high water. Anyone needing to access this neighborhood should use an alternate route, either Alvarez Street or Cherry Hill off of Lafitte Road.

Power and traffic lights should be restored in the next couple of hours.

A confirmed tornado touched down in in Saraland Alabama on Highway 43 early Monday afternoon.

Multiple businesses including a motel and a buffet restaurant sustained damage.
