Like most species in the Euphausiacea, this one has ten photophores (light-producing organs, shown by arrowheads, >), most of which are visible as dark red spots on the photographs: One on each eye stalk, an anterior pair and a posterior pair on the thorax, and four in the midline of the abdomen. 3cm individual.
