Indian Supermarket Chain Patel Brothers Is Another Option For NYC Groceries Now

Indian food purveyor Patel Brothers is back in business

Popular Indian supermarket chain Patel Brothers has reopened its doors at all locations, including Flushing and Jackson Heights, after temporarily shuttering for 10 days, the company announced. Going forward, the stores will be open on an abbreviated schedule — from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m. — seven days per week.

Grocery delivery from the chain appears to have been available at one point on third-party sites including Mercato, although the current listing says online ordering is still unavailable at this time. Eater has reached out for more information.

The grocer shut down all of its locations at the end of March to deep-clean each store and establish “new safety protocols” for staff and customers amid the COVID-19 crisis, according to a notice posted on the company’s website.

Patel Brothers is the country’s largest Indian supermarket chain, with over 50 locations spread out across the U.S., including four shops in New York. The stores stock a wide variety of dry goods, produce, and spices typically found in regions of India and the Middle East.

The reopening offers the latest way for New Yorkers to find groceries in the city — which has been no easy task in the past few weeks.

Pickup and delivery is available from both locations on Sunday, April 12th from 2 p.m. to 5pm.
