‘Too real’ Halloween decoration prompts police investigation

It was a real no-body.

A UK woman’s holiday display was so lifelike that police mistook it for an actual body, according to a TikTok clip of the mix-up with over 5.9 million views.

“Not every day you get blue lights and sirens outside,” reads the caption to the hilarious clip, which was posted last week by TikTok user @DanielleIt23.

The footage shows police officers approaching what appears to be a body wrapped in garbage bags with sneaker-clad feet poking out and a guitar resting nearby like something out of a true crime documentary.

“It’s realistic then?” the videographer asks as the bemused officer inspects the imitation body bag.

At one point, the cop takes an exploratory kick at the macabre prop, accidentally knocking its shoe loose and prompting the camerawoman to jokingly exclaim, “Do you want to tape that back on?”

The clip concludes with the officer preparing to leave the scene, apparently satisfied that the display wasn’t an actual stiff.

Needless to say, viewers were in hysterics over the misunderstanding.

“Can’t tell if he’s amused or annoyed at the call out or both,” mused one viewer, while another wrote, “Would have been so awesome if someone was in it and sat up.”

Some even joked that it was an actual body that the poster had simply disguised as a Halloween decoration to fool the authorities.

“Plot twist: It IS real,” exclaimed one jokester. Another quipped, “Halloween: the best time to get rid of some’body.'”

This isn’t the first time the cops have been fooled by a super naturalistic Halloween decoration.

In May 2021, a UK woman was mortified after an errantly placed holiday prop prompted a squad of 10 police officers to surround her home on the suspicion that she’d committed murder.
