This species of sapotillo grows up to 40 m high, the whole plant has white latex, characteristic of its family Sapotaceae. The flowers are small, whitish, pollinated by insects, the fruits are yellowish, with sweet and edible pulp, consumed by many animals. It is known from Nicaragua to Ecuador, its wood and fruits are used locally.
