It was announced today that Natalie Portman has, for the first time, partnered with a luxury beauty company. For her inaugural fashion foray, Natalie will promote Miss Dior Cherie, Christian Dior’s latest fragrance. At a press conference in NYC today the actress took to the stage, where Dior head Claude Martinez declared Natalie the ideal choice because she “is charismatic and elegant.”

It was also revealed that Sofia Coppola directed the TV ads, which will begin running in March on TV and in magazines. Of the ads, Natalie said, “[they’re] playful and intimate with a rebellious side.” Adding that her 20-year-old co-star made her feel like, “a big old cougar.”

Tapping Natalie as the face of a fragrance is an inspired move since she conveys a lightness and freshness few of her contemporaries can match. Additionally Natalie is revered even by women you might not expect, like comedian Janeane Garofalo:
