Peter Frampton is serving up some Humble Pie.
The “Show Me The Way” singer, 70, admits that he behaved like a stereotypical, spoiled rockstar for approximately “three weeks” before he “came back to the ground.”
“I put it down to my upbringing,” Frampton, who performed with the Herd and Humble Pie before going solo in 1971, told Page Six recently. “I’ve never thought I was better than anybody else … The only thing that sets me apart from being that grounded person is that I’m a successful musician.
“When I let that go to my head for the shortest time, I realized one day and looked in the mirror and said, ‘This isn’t you. This is what they want you to be.'”
The musician recently released his memoir, “Do You Feel Like I Do?,” to show people that he “makes the same mistakes as everyone else. I have the same battles as everybody else. We put our heroes on such tall pedestals and we never think … but I go to the bathroom too!”
And because this is a rock ‘n’ roll bio, one of his mistakes includes the tale of a shady manager who allegedly swindled Frampton out of millions, but the guitarist, who now resides in Nashville, is extremely zen about it.
“I’m over it now, love,” he said with a chuckle. “I spent too many years living in the past blaming myself, but because of my resilience, which I got from my parents and my M.O, my character is never to give up.
“So I brushed myself off, picked myself up, and I got on the ladder again, and go up one rung at a time. That’s what I’ve always done. You can always start again.”
