Chevy Chase, 80, falls off stage at ‘Christmas Vacation’ event after arriving in wheelchair

Chevy Chase channeled his bumbling Clark Griswold character at a recent “Christmas Vacation” event.

The actor, 80 was greeting fans at Shea’s Performing Arts Center in Buffalo, NY, Wednesday, when he stepped right off the stage.

Chase entered the stage for a Q&A session following a screening of 1989’s “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” in a wheelchair but quickly stood up and began walking toward the crowd.

A moment later, in a video shared by TMZ, the “Saturday Night Live” alum slipped off stage.

He eventually got up and back to his seat on stage with an assist from his wife, Jayni, and the moderator.

The audience chuckled when Chase’s smartwatch called him out for the fall.

He did the event with an icepack nursing his knee but still gamely stuck around to take some pics with fans.

Sources told TMZ that the comedian blamed the stage lights and “simply misjudged the edge of the stage when walking out.” The outlet reported that he’s “doing just fine, apart from a bruised knee.”

The “Caddyshack” star sparked concern recently when he was photographed in a wheelchair while supporting his close pal Sylvester Stallone at an event in Philadelphia.

However, his manager dismissed any worries at the time, telling the Daily Mail that their client is in fine fettle while he criss-crosses the country on tour.

“His health is amazing and his tour, ‘A Live Conversation With Chevy Chase,’ has been selling out across the country,” the rep said in a statement.

“He sometimes uses the chair due to all the airport travel – even at 80 years young. He does not need rest. His tour is extensive during the holiday season.”

On the tour, Chase and his wife give behind-the-scenes details about the holiday classic and take questions from audience members.

Chase’s last health scare was when he suffered “near-fatal heart failure,” which saw him in the hospital for five weeks in early 2021.

He joked about the experience just last year, telling CBS “Sunday Morning” that doctors “removed” his heart.

“Didn’t need it. It’s much better,” he quipped.

Chase’s last regular TV gig was co-starring on “Community” where he was fired for reportedly uttering the N-word.
