(FRENCH INDOCHINA) 1887 – 1954
La Indochina Francesa (en francés: Indochine française; en Vietnamita: Đông Dương thuộc Pháp) fue una federación de protectorados en el sudeste de Asia que formaba parte del Imperio colonial francés.
EMBLEMA DEL GOBIERNO GENERAL DE INDOCHINA.
Oficialmente, fue conocida como la Unión Indochina (en francés: Union Indochinoise), y después de 1946 se convirtió en la Federación Indochina (en francés: Fédération indochinoise) como parte de la Unión Francesa. Estaba formada por una federación de tres regiones vietnamitas (Cochinchina, Tonkín y Annam) junto a los protectorados de Laos y Camboya. Dependió también del gobierno francés de Indochina la concesión de Kouang-Tchéou-Wan, parte de la hoy Zhanjiang.
GOBERNADOR GENERAL RAOUL SALAN.
En 1902 la capital colonial fue trasladada de Saigón, en la Cochinchina, a Hanoi (Tonkín). Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial la colonial fue administrada por la Francia de Vichy y quedó bajo ocupación japonesa hasta 1945. A comienzos de 1941 el Viet Minh, una guerrilla comunista liderada por Ho Chi Minh, comenzó una revuelta contra el poder colonial francés y la ocupación japonesa, que tras el final de la guerra mundial desembocaría en la conocida como Guerra de Indochina (1946-1954).

En Saigón el títere y anti-comunista Estado de Vietnam, liderado por el antiguo emperador vietnamita Bảo Đại, obtuvo su independencia en 1949, mientras el Reino de Luang Prabang y Camboya obtenían mayor autonomía.

De acuerdo a los acuerdos alcanzados durante la Conferencia de Ginebra, el Viet Minh reafirmó su gobierno sobre Vietnam del Norte, aunque el gobierno de Bảo Đại continuó sus actividades y poder en Vietnam del Sur. Los acuerdos de Ginebra significaron el final del poder colonial francés en la península de Indochina y también el principio del fin de su imperio colonial.

French Indo-China (now commonly known as French Indochina) (French: Indochine française; Vietnamese: Đông Dương thuộc Pháp, pronounced [ɗoŋm zɰəŋ tʰuə̀k fǎp], frequently abbreviated to Đông Pháp; Lao: ຝຣັ່ງແຫຼັມອິນດູຈີນ; Cantonese: 法屬印度支那), officially known as the Indo-Chinese Union (French:Union indochinoise) after 1887 and the Indo-Chinese Federation (French: Fédération indochinoise) after 1947, was a grouping of French colonial territories in Southeast Asia.

A grouping of the three Vietnamese regions of Tonkin (north), Annam (centre), and Cochinchina (south) with Cambodia was formed in 1887. Laos was added in 1893 and Kwangchow Wan (Kouang-Tchéou-Wan) in 1898. The capital was moved from Saigon (in Cochinchina) to Hanoi (Tonkin) in 1902 and again to Da Lat (Annam) in 1939. In 1945 it was moved back to Hanoi.

After the fall of France during World War II, the colony was administered by the Vichy government and was under Japanese occupation until March 1945, when the Japanese overthrew the colonial regime.
LEGION FRANCESA DE INCOCHINA – 1954.
Beginning in May 1941, the Viet Minh, a communist army led by Ho Chi Minh, began a revolt against the Japanese. In August 1945 they declared Vietnamese independence and extended the war, known as the First Indochina War, against France.
SAIGON.
In Saigon, the anti-Communist State of Vietnam, led by former Emperor Bảo Đại, was granted independence in 1949. On 9 November 1953, the Kingdom of Laos and the Kingdom of Cambodia became independent. Following the Geneva Accord of 1954, the French evacuated Vietnam and French Indochina came to an end.
