Description: Typically planoconvex, with involute side gently rounded, unkeeled, umbilicate, five chambers in final whorl, sutures gently recurved, aperture a very low arch, surface finely perforate and weakly pustulose.

Comparison: Distinguished from G. crassaformis by having an extra chamber in the last whorl.

Distribution: Mangapanian to Nukumaruan in New Zealand on land sequences.

Comment: Populations in the Upper Pliocene contain morphotypes of early G. truncatulinoides which replaces G. tosaensis in the Pleistocene (see Hornibrook 1976).
