Polygonatum glaberrimum

A collection of this rare species with very obviously overlapping, very broad (sometimes almost orbicular) leaflets once established, from the southern border of Georgia and Turkey, not far from Batumi. A handsome plant in the garden, very closely related to P. odoratum, with arching stems to at least 60cm high, strung along half their length with pendulous, faintly scented, green-tipped white flowers in spring. Hardy, for shade to semi-shade. Tough and easy.
