Vernon Hills young violinist to solo with MYAC Concert Orchestra

Ruth Kim, 13, of Vernon Hills, winner of the Walgreens National Concerto Competition, will perform with the MYAC Concert Orchestra Feb. 24.

Ruth Kim will perform her winning solo piece: Violin Concerto No. 2 in D minor, Op. 22 by Henryk Wieniawski with Midwest Young Artists Conservatory's Concert Orchestra on Sunday February 24 at 2:30 p.m. at Pick Staiger Concert Hall on the campus of Northwestern University.

Kim, 13, of Vernon Hills, is the Junior MYAC Orchestra Division Winner, and one of four Overall Grand Winners in the Walgreens National Concerto Competition. She is an 8th grader at Daniel Wright Junior High School in Lincolnshire, IL and studies violin with Desiree Ruhstrat.

Tickets for the concert are $25/adult, $10/student. Tickets may be purchased at the event or online at https://mya.org/events/tickets.
