The Shins are a sweet indie-rock band from Albequere, New Mexico, and are now based in Portland, Oregon. They formed in 1996 and have been making “easy-listening” (music that I consider easy to listen to) ever since. The band currently has six members – James Mercer on vocals and guitar, Joe Plummer on drums, Mark Waltrous on guitar, Yuuki Matthews on bass,Nick Telling on glockenspiel and harmonica, and Richard Swift on keyboard. The Shins have worked with many other big name bands like Modest Mouse and Iron and Wine.
The Shins have also had their music in movies as well as TV shows, including Saturday Night Live, the Weeds, How I Met Your Mother, and The Amazing Spider-Man.
There’s no surprise that The Shins have been doing so well. If you love music, particularly alternative music, you've got to give 'em a listen.
