Just days after announcing his engagement, the country singer, 74, married fiancée Brandi on Saturday in an intimate ceremony in Alabama, according to a statement shared to his official Facebook page. “Please congratulate Mr. And Mrs. Hank Williams Jr!" the statement read. "Hank and Brandi were married on Sept 9, 2023 at Enon Baptist Church in Banks, Alabama in front of a small group of family and friends." Though the couple only recently shared news of their upcoming wedding, the statement said Williams popped the question on Mother's Day in May, and that he and Brandi, 43, "have known each other and been friends since 2003." Hank Williams Jr. Is Engaged to 'Beautiful and Lovely' Fiancée One Year After Death of Wife Mary Williams' happy news comes a year-and-a-half after the loss of his wife Mary Jane Thomas, who died of surgery complications in March 2022. The pair were married for 32 years. Though the "Family Tradition" singer has kept his relationship with Brandi largely under the radar, he first posted a picture of her to Instagram in January, a shot of them hunting together with the caption, "Sweethearts, Hank & Brandi." Then on July 4, he shared a photo of his bride-to-be showing off her catch while on a fishing trip. Their engagement was announced Sept. 4 on the Facebook page of his Pure Hank radio show. “The newly engaged outlaw country music and southern rock legend Hank Williams, Jr. alongside his beautiful and lovely fiancé[e] Brandi,” the post's caption read, alongside a happy photo of the pair. "Of course, she will be missed and loved by so many forever," he added. Thomas, 58, died of a collapsed lung that was punctured during elective surgery the day before, according to a report from the Palm Beach County Medical Examiner as well as an autopsy report, which was obtained by PEOPLE. She and Williams shared musician son Sam, 26, as well as a daughter, Katherine, who died in a car crash in June 2020 at age 27.
