Shell diameter 6-7 mm.

This snail has a dark brown shiny shell with 4-5 whorls. The body of the snail is black with a dull orange spot on the mantle.

Seen all year round in damp areas such as marshes, greenhouses and wet areas along the edges of rivers, lakes and ponds where it can be found under wood, rocks, and vegetation. Also found in damp woodland. This snail is carnivorous, and has been known to be cannibalistic. Common and widespread, though scarcer further north.
