Wedding at The Philander Chase Knox Estate | Santina & Kyle

Santina and Kyle got married at the The Philander Chase Knox Estate and it was a blast to be there photographing their wedding day!

It was great capturing photos of them on this day, and mingling with their families and guests. Keep scrolling down to view my favorite images and read my behind-the-scenes report from their wedding…

Santina was getting ready in a nearby hotel, and we got some nice photos there.  We also decided to make a couple more images over at the Estate, since they have such a nice bridal suite that works great for these types of pictures.

She did a ‘first look’ with her Dad there. It was a beautiful moment and they were both really trying not to cry!

My second photographer was covering Kyle ‘getting ready’ but really he was just chillin’ with the groomsmen and parents at the bar. They were asked to be there before heading over to his ‘first look’ which was scheduled for around mid day at The Philander Chase Knox Estate. Here’s a few portraits and candid imagers of them all hanging out around the bar of the hotel.

Time for the ‘First Look’ over at the Philander Chase Knox Estate.

I have to give them credit. It was 95 degrees, sunny, and humid. However, we had a few shots on our list that we all just really wanted to get… they toughed it out and pulled off an amazing set of bride and groom portraits!

My second photographer was shooting 100% natural light looks, which turned out really nice.  It also freed me up to shoot all of my looks with off-camera strobe in a soft box for the fashion/editorial look that I was going for. I even had an assistant handling my lighting on this day.

Check out this behind the scenes shot of the lighting assistant along with the bride’s wedding-day makeup artist keeping the production going.

As they say it takes a village…

The goal was to maximize the time that they set aside for portraits and create a blend of photography styles (natural light and dramatically lit portraits) so that their final image collection would have a lot of variety. I was thrilled with how their portraits came out.

While I was photographing those portraits, my second photographer was also busy behind the scenes snapping fun candid shots of people interacting, as they got ready for their group shots.

We moved on to capturing the sets of bridal party portraits.

We decided that it would be better for everyone if we escaped the heat.  The decision was made to finish off our photo list indoors where we would enjoy the benefits of air-conditioning.

As we made our way from outdoors to inside of The Philander Chase Knox Estate, we were able to set up a few more quick looks with couple.

This indoor space was perfect for getting the individual portraits with the bride and groom checked off our list of photos, and a few more photos of the bride and groom individually.  Also, everyone was much more comfortable inside, cooling off in the air conditioning.

We got all this done before their ceremony which is awesome!

They had about a half hour of downtime and then it was time to start the wedding.

One of the bride’s sisters officiated the wedding!

We finished off the list of family group photos, then captured some of the moments and details before their wedding reception would start.

Their wedding reception got started with introductions, and we were there to capture every moment.

During dinner, we had a chance to capture some ‘blue hour’ portraits at dusk.

After about ten minutes, we returned to the reception and had a blast covering everyone on the dance floor partying.
