Cherry Compote also a delightful summer topping for breakfast or brunch, on pancakes or waffles!

What I love about this recipe is you can use fresh or frozen cherries! So actually, it’s great for winter desserts, too.

Hosting makes happier people

When Paul and I started hosting years ago, we were excited for the opportunity to deepen our friendships. As we saw our large group of friends more and more, we became more connected and happier people. Seriously, friends, if you do not have a small (or large) circle of friends in your life, you are missing out.

Because we hosted so much, and the party always seemed to be at our house (which was fine with us, although we did get a lot of reciprocated dinner invites), we stayed connected with these people. It was fun to graft new people in, too, so the circle was always revolving.

Host an end-of-summer dinner

When you meet new people, instead of seeing your old friends slowly drift away, or get relegated to the back burner—host a dinner!

I always say that summer is the easiest time to host old friends and new.

Create a fresh, lovely, seasonal meal.

Set it out and let everyone serve themselves.

Sit outside and ENJOY! Oh, and you don’t have to clean the house. Another perk of summer!

How to make Summer Cherry Compote Recipe

All you need is cherries, sugar, lemon, and cinnamon for this recipe.

Simmer, and smell the amazing aroma filling the house.

Serve on your favorite ice cream.

We love this Summer Cherry Compote Recipe on Old-Fashioned Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream.

But you can also serve it on gelato! YUM!

We are constantly working on real friendships. Real as in coming together and really getting to know each other.

It takes time and effort to make true, long-lasting relationships, Friends!

Happy weekend and happy hosting!
