Type catalog: Ferraris 2007:427 [ref. 29155]. Type designated in Pl. 4 (fig. 16). •Valid as Urinophilus erythrurus Eigenmann 1922 -- (Ortega & Vari 1986:16 [ref. 9708]). •Valid as Plectrochilus erythrurus (Eigenmann 1922) -- (Burgess 1989:324 [ref. 12860]). •Synonym of Vandellia cirrhosa Valenciennes 1846 -- (de Pinna & Wosiacki in Reis et al. 2003:286 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:427 [ref. 29155]). Current status: Synonym of Vandellia cirrhosa Valenciennes 1846. Trichomycteridae: Vandelliinae. Habitat: freshwater.

SU 16766 was received at Stanford University in 1951, presumably from material used in the original description (in which no types were designated). Lectotype designation by Böhlke 1953:45 [ref. 12291]. •Valid as Vandellia hematophaga Guimarães 1935 -- (Burgess 1989:324 [ref. 12860]). •Synonym of Paravandellia oxyptera Miranda Ribeiro 1912 -- (de Pinna & Wosiacki in Reis et al. 2003:277 [ref. 27061], Ferraris 2007:410 [ref. 29155], Litz & Koerber 2014:22 [ref. 33622], Mirande & Koerber 2015:38 [ref. 35117], Koerber et al. 2017:55 [ref. 35267]).
