Taishōgoto is a modern Japanese instrument, created first in 1920's. It's a type of a harp, in some way resembling bulbul tarang and accordiola. This one also features a pickup, making it usable in modern music scenarios - be it studio, live show or whatever else.
You press down keys, and by doing so, you fret a note (some Taishos have an actual fretboard, some use the keys themselves for fretting). The soprano version (one you're looking at) is tuned to G (all strings in unison, albeit in different octaves), with one string being a drone string, located physically a bit lower than others and not being fretted by the pressed key, thus always making it a G. You can either pluck the strings (and strum them), or simply press the keys in order to strike a note.
This instrument is easy to learn, fun to play and gives you a wide tonal variety. Japanese folk motives? Sure. Modern pop music? Why not. Experimental rock? Also why not. Check out new Arctic Monkeys song from 2023 album, called 'Big Ideas' - there is a Taishōgoto solo in it. Also check out the video we made some time ago about this instrument - it's came out to be pretty fun! We included it in this listing.
This guy is a vintage Suzuki Violin Taishogoto with a passive pickup. Tone/Volume/Jack. Soft case included.
