Description:

Running Glade Clover is known from just six occurrences in Tennessee and Virginia in the Cumberland Gap region. The flowers of this clover species are a milky white. This species was first observed by Dr. Augustin Gattinger in the late 1800's and misidentified as T. stoloniferum. In 1992, it was described as a distinct species, Trifolium calcaricum.

A subset of plants propagated by a citizen volunteer from a site owned by a private landowner in Tennessee were given to a local botanic garden (Cheekwood Botanic Gardens) to create an interpretive rare plant display.

With encouragement from the Tennessee Division of Natural Areas, a citizen volunteer initiated contact with a private landowner, secured permission to propagate plants from the site, and established 18 different reintroduction sites in nearby parks and state natural areas.
