Acarospora cervina

A crustose species with numerous, scattered areoles that are sometimes combined into a rather thick crust. in which only the margin of the apothecia is pruinose. The areoles are partly or entirely blue-grey pruinose and the margin may be eroded and white. The apothecia are large and may cover entire squamules.

In Scotland, Acarospora cervina is locally found in The Highlands where it grows on upland hard limestone, epidiorite and other calcareous rocks. BLS distribution map
