Kelly Chen's marriage could be in trouble

30 Sep – Hong Kong singer Kelly Chen will be celebrating her third anniversary with husband Alex Lau on 2 October. However, rumours are surfacing that the couple's marriage might be a bit shaky, according to a report on XinMSN's website.

During a recent event, the singer revealed that Alex would visit nightclubs at least four times a week and said that he would give their son junk food.

When her remarks were published, people began speculating that the couple might be facing problems in their marriage.

Kelly later responded to the rumour, saying that her statement was merely describing how she got along with her husband and is puzzled as to why people misunderstood her words.

"A couple needs to accommodate each other's habits, since they live together. Alex is definitely not used to that yet. When I was pregnant, he stopped socialising [with his clients]. After Chace was born, he cut down [his visits to the nightclubs] from four times a week, to about one or two. He would also wait until our son is asleep before going out," the singer said.

She also compared Alex's nightclub visits to a woman's habit of shopping, adding and emphasising "that's why we have to accommodate one another".

Kelly also explained her initial "complaint" that Alex was feeding their son with junk food.

"Alex doesn't have the time to see Chace much, so Chace would stick close to me. Alex gave Chace [junk] food because he wanted to leave a good impression on our son. That's why I'm also feeding Chace cakes now," she said.
