Size: To 10 ft. tall.

Flowers: Flowers (inflorescence) are lavender, about 0.5 in. across, ; leaves are needle-like with sticky stems; small fruit.

Uses: Habitat restoration, large slopes. Flammable!

Soil: Well-drained; native to sandy, nearly infertile soil.

Water: Little to none.

Sun: Full sun to part shade.

Notes: From Santa Barbara county of California in maritime chaparral and Bishop pine forests. Listed as an endangered species, March, 2000, by US Dept. of Interior as a critical habitat. Spreads by underground stems (rhizomes).
