The summer months at Colorado State University provide plenty of news. Amidst construction, a visit by the governor, and an averted flood, CSU is ramping up for what will certainly be an eventful fall. Take a look back at the summer so far in CSU in Photos.

Bookstore Reopens

Lory Student Center, May 15, 2023

CSU’s Lory Student Center underwent additional renovations over the summer, primarily in the northern wing of the building, which houses the CSU Bookstore, Adult Learner and Veteran Services and more.

Colorado Gov. Jared Polis visited CSU this summer. He briefly spoke during the Pathways: Human Dimensions of Wildlife conference. Polis discussed the state’s inclusive agenda for managing wildlife and plans to collaborate with CSU’s Animal-Human Policy Center.

2023 Summer Lagoon Concert Series Funky Business

The arrival of the Lagoon Concert Series marked the start of summer traditions at Colorado State University. More than 2,700 attended the first concert, with Northern Colorado’s Funky Business. Eight bands took part in the annual concert series throughout the summer, with thousands of community members attending the events. see more photos

Rendezvous Apartments

 Rendezvous Trail apartment complex, June 15, 2023

Construction continued throughout the summer on the Rendezvous Trail apartment complex near Timberline Church. CSU, through a partnership with Tetrad, broke ground on the new Rendezvous Trail apartment complex last September. It will provide 57 apartments to CSU employees to rent at discounted rates beginning in 2024.

The Sunday Fort Collins Juneteenth Freedom Day events incluide the MoWell Dance Class, Dad Joke Open Mic and a praise and celebration gospel performance by Tarell Martin and the Colorado Mass Choir on the Colorado State Universty campus, June 18, 2023.

Fort Collins, June 16-18, 2023

The CSU community took part in a three-day celebration for the Juneteenth weekend, with the final festivities held at Colorado State University. Activities included concerts, a family bike ride, a 5K run/walk, dance parties, a basketball tournament, yoga, vendors and more.

Colorado State University, Aug. 1, 2023

Flooding at Colorado State University on the night of July 31 could have been a whole lot worse if it hadn’t been for improvements made since the historic Spring Creek Flood in 1997. “The reason the Oval didn’t flood is because of the deepened Lagoon,” said Campus Landscape Architect David Hansen. “It didn’t even get to the Transit Center. CSU Housing and Dining, Aug. 3, 2023

Northern Colorado mural artist Armando Silva isn’t used to handing over the brushes to others quite as much as he did for the 2023 CSU Arts Management mural project. A culmination of Silva’s design and project management through CSU’s LEAP Arts Management class Community Engagement and the Arts, the mural features large-scale hands using ASL — American Sign Language — to sign the word “Intersection.” read more
