Tate Forcier’s college career takes a turn toward San Jose State
Former Michigan quarterback Tate Forcier might be the most followed college quarterback who doesn't actually play college football (other than Russell Wilson, of course).
But that could change shortly.
NBC/San Francisco anchor Raj Mathai wrote via his Twitter page that Forcier visited San Jose State on Thursday and could end up transferring there.
Of course, leave Miami, a storied program, for San Jose State, a program that has three wins in the past two seasons. That makes sense.
What does make sense is that Forcier is from California, and after USC reportedly didn't court him, San Jose State might have been the next closest option to get him near to his hometown of San Diego.
Forcier has had an interesting last couple months. On April 22, police were called to Forcier's girlfriend's apartment after a neighbor saw Forcier hanging out the third-floor bedroom window and thought he was going to jump. Police got Forcier to unlock the bedroom door and he was taken to a hospital. There's was never a definitive word on whether the ordeal was a suicide attempt.
A few weeks later, on May 13, Forcier decided not to enroll at Miami after signing a scholarship agreement back in February.
Forcier started his career at Michigan and played in 20 games before he was replaced by Denard Robinson. He was later declared academically ineligible and decided to transfer.
If Forcier does decide to transfer to an FBS school, he will have two years of eligibility remaining after sitting out the 2011 season for NCAA transfer rules.
