Discover the Grand Tour of Switzerland by car

On the Grand Tour of Switzerland, it’s about the journey and not the final destination. The approximately 1,600-kilometre-long journey of discovery winds through four language regions, over five Alpine passes, to eleven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, two biospheres and along 22 lakes. This tour offers a concentrated dose of Switzerland with scenic and cultural gems. Discover the highlights here on the section through eastern Switzerland..

Schaffhausen – St.Gallen section

The route winds along the Swiss side of Lake Constance from Europe's largest waterfall through the medieval towns of Schaffhausen and Stein am Rhein, ending up in the St.Gallen-Lake Constance region where the tour highlight awaits: the Abbey District with its Baroque cathedral which was declared a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 1983. But it doesn’t stop here by a long shot.

Hungry along the way?

The Snack Box is the perfect companion for touring visitors on their journey through Switzerland – it satisfies small pangs of hunger and can be refilled again and again. Also at the St.Gallen Tourist Information office. Have a good trip – and bon appétit!
