Since Life Is Full Of Uncertainties Anyway, Why Do We Fear Uncertainties Instead Of Embracing Them?
This is my second philosophical question, the first being Since Today Is The First Day Of The Rest Of Your Life, What Will You Do Differently Today?
It is a fact that life is full of uncertainties. We do not know what will happen in the next hour, what more to say tomorrow. As human beings, we plan both our lives and our schedules as best as we can. However as much as we can plan, nobody knows what will happen next or whether things will turn out as planned.
Therefore we get stressed out thinking about what will happen next. We also worry when things do not turn out as planned. These worries in turn can narrow the scope of our thinking and limit our creativity. We developed what we call tunnel vision. It is common for people to lay awake in bed wondering what will happen next. Since we have no control over what life will throw at us in the future, why worry about it in the first place.
Imagine that we watched the same movie many times. We know what will happen next in the movie and there is no longer any suspense. After a few rounds of , watching we become bored. The same goes for our lives. If by magic, we are able to know exactly what is going to happen next, our lives will lost its luster and excitement.
If we are able to accept the fact that we cannot eliminate uncertainty in our lives, then we can factor in uncertainty into our lifestyle. We become open to all possibilities and infinity of choices. Life now becomes an adventure, full of excitement and to a certain extend almost magical.
Therefore the choice lies our hands, will we embrace uncertainty?

Simple: biological risk management
We pretend we are highly sophisticated as a species but we are still biological beings a few steps removed from monkeys.
We are certainly capable of rational thinking, but that takes effort and most of the time we actually DON'T think rational.
Most of the time we are on a biological auto pilot which goes like this:
What you know probably won't kill you, if it did not harm you yet. Keep doing it.
What you don't know might kill you. So stay away.
That's how our brain works, but it is very bad at statistics.
It is what causes health crises, financial debt, staying in dead end jobs.
Read Daniel Kahneman's Thinking, fast and slow. It is not easy reading but it is a pretty practical operating manual for your mind.
Discovering new things can indeed be beneficial but keep in mind that your "mind" has to actively work at rational thinking processes. It takes concious effort until the "new" becomes "familiar" and then you probably established a new habit.
Our minds still think at a basic level with a fight or flight response. This is just for survival and not for enrichment of our lives.

If we know what is going to happen we know how to avoid pain.... if we are uncertain then there is a possibility of experiencing pain.
A human life needs a certain level of predictability to be productive though.
I think it's much more important to have some kind of order in your life, than to simply give in to the chaos of "all possibilities and infinity of choices". Both need to balance each other.
