Mini Roast Beef Cups Recipe

For my recent Downton Abbey Movie Night, I wanted to prepare a mix of sweet and savoury treats for my guests with a British theme – and what could be more British than a Sunday roast?!

Making an entire roast would have been impractical – and my friends already think I take my themes too far already, so I wanted to come up with a fun twist that gave a nod to the elaborate suppers seen in Downton Abbey with a quick and easy appetizer.

These little yorkshire pudding appetizers are like a miniature roast supper in a cup! I used a freshly baked Yorkshire pudding, spread on some homemade herb and garlic cream cheese, and stuffed it with thinly sliced roast beef. It’s a fun, party-friendly take on a classic comfort food and perfect for any British themed party or a Christmas appetizer. This super simple appetizer features fresh Yorkshire Puddings stuffed with homemade herb and garlic cream cheese and thinly sliced roast beef for a fun take on a comfort food classic

There are a few ways you could alter this recipe to make it your own.

I love Yorkshire Puddings, however if you’re not a fan, or simply want to use what you already have on hand, the “cups” for this appetizer can be made using puff pastry or even crescent dough.

I make a batch of homemade herb and garlic cream cheese at least once a month, so I’m always looking for new recipes to incorporate it into. You can swap that out with a garlic sauce, horseradish, or even a smear of mustard.

I opted for deli-style sliced roast beef out of convenience, but this recipe could be elevated with some freshly cooked roast beef or thinly sliced steak. Personally, I wanted something quick and easy but homemade roast beef is never a bad choice.

And finally, you can add some cooked vegetables – peas, potatoes, whatever you would normally crave alongside a traditional roast.

Have fun with this recipe and treat it as inspiration to create your perfect “bite sized roast supper.”
