This and other observations of this species during EX 1905L2 represent the first known in situ observations of this species. Observations herein show individuals hunched over sponge-covered substratum suggesting that they are almost certainly a food source.

Remaster palmatus is one of two species within the genus Remaster , the other species, Remaster gourdoni Koehler 1912 is known primarily from the Antarctic. The Korethrasteridae are members of the Velatida , which includes the Myxasteridae and the Pterasteridae .
