History
Overview
History is knowledge acquired by investigation - a study of the past. Events that occurred prior to the invention of writing systems, is considered 'pre-history'.
History makes use of an academic discipline that describes, examines, questions and analyses a sequence of past events.
Unsupported events and stories which nonetheless form part of a societal culture, e.g. King Arthur, are classified as cultural heritage or legend.
The collective term 'History' relates to past events that also include memory, discovery, oral accounts, material objects, art and artifacts.
