MOSCOW – Texas Ex Alexandria Anderson took home a silver medal as part of the U.S. 4x100-meter relay team on Sunday to close out the 2013 IAAF World Championships.

Anderson, competing with Jeneba Tarmoh, English Gardner and Octavious Freeman, ran the second leg for the Americans in both the preliminary round, where the U.S. team advanced with the top overall time of 41.82 seconds, and the final. The U.S. placed third in the final race with its time of 42.75 following a bobbled handoff, but was ultimately awarded second following a disqualification of the French squad. Jamaica claimed the gold medal with a time of 41.29.

The result earned Anderson her second IAAF Worlds medal in the event after she raced for the world-champion U.S. team in 2011.

Also in action on the last day of competition was fellow Texas Ex Samyr Laine in the final of the men's triple jump. The Haitian national record-holder in the event, Laine finished 11th with a leap of 52 feet, 9 ½ inches (16.09 meters).
