Notes: The Finescale Tigerfish is one of the most common species of Tigerfish (sometimes also referred to by their genus name, Datnioides); they are also among the largest.

Despite being carnivorous fish, the Finescale Tigerfish is generally well behaved towards large tankmates. Good choices include large cichlids like Texas Cichlids and Jack Dempseys, Common Plecos, and large Archerfish. They should not be kept with any tankmates less than half their size which are at risk of being eaten. These fish are perhaps kept as single specimens in community tanks, though they can be kept successfully in groups of at least 3. Pairs are too likely to end up with one Tigerfish bullying the other.

As ambush predators, Finescale Tigerfish prefer having densely planted areas in which to hide and watch the other fish (and the aquarist!). They are very likely to stalk the other fish in the tank, even those too large to be eaten.
