BRIGHT YET BREADY Food For Thought is our humble contribution to help raise awareness to the issue of food waste, brewed in collaboration with Food Bank for New York City. Food Bank For New York City is the city's largest hunger relief organization. Over 30 percent of trash in New York City includes food waste. In response, Food Bank For New York City works with local grocery stores, restaurants, bakeries, and farms to rescue an average of 1 million pounds of food a month to redistribute to New Yorkers in need.
This year’s beer is a blended harvest saison featuring stale bread from a local bakery, Runner & Stone (who also happen to be our neighbors in Gowanus, Brooklyn). We blended a young saison brewed with the recovered bread with select oak-aged saison to add layers of complexity. Following blending, Food For Thought was keg- and bottle-conditioned for natural carbonation. 10% of proceeds from every bottle sold will go towards supporting Food Bank for NYC's efforts.
