Los Vietnamita Taqueria~ 2644 St. Clair Ave E. ~ (416) 288-8555

Calling all East Yorkers!!!  Los Vietnamita Taqueria  has opened a bricks-and-mortar at 2644 St. Clair Ave E.  This popular Vietnamese & Mexican fusion food truck has set-up permanent shop at the gates of Parkview Hills, breathing a much-needed culinary infusion into the neighbourhood.

Annie is about a friendly a front-of-house person as you’ll ever meet.  A great conversationalist, she easily talks us into trying everything on the menu and coming back again and again for more of the good stuff.  Her husband, Kevin, and his small-but-mighty team are cranking out a focused & elevated street-food menu that’s as comforting as it is exotic.  Let’s take a look under the hood, shall we?

Their LVT Hot Fried Chicken Sammie stuffs a brioche bun with buttermilk fried chicken, spicy sambal crema, Hanoi slaw and sweet pickles.  Textures about with this significant two-hander.  It’s crunchy, soft, sweet and spicy.  Melt-in-your-mouth goodness and #lunchunder10bucks!

These guys are also slinging their own version of Fries Supreme.  Childhood memories abound (from a QSR that will remain nameless).  Let’s just say we’re thrilled these are on the menu!  Fresh-cut fries covered with carne asada, ancho crema, avocado salsa, pico de gallo and scallions, this is an enormous serving and qualifies as #lunchunder10bucks.  We recommend dining in if you’re ordering these bad boys.

Let’s get to tacos!!!  These are what made the LVT food truck so famous.  The Saigon fried chicken bánh mì tacos won the “best dish” at Taco Fest Toronto 2019!  They’re absolutely huge and come loaded with buttermilk fried chicken, Saigon sweet chili, garlic cream, creamy slaw, lettuce, pickled carrots and daikon.

Pro tip:  their lemongrass bánh mì taco (not pictured) is actually our favourite dish on the menu.  The chicken is grilled, and the marinade flows through into every bite.

Deconstructed rice bowls (Cơm tấm) provide a little taste of everything.  Choose from a half-dozen different proteins.  We just love the fried fish bites tossed in onion peppers & and chillies.  Served with pico de gallo, ancho & garlic crema and a Mexican egg roll (filled with spicy ground beef, beans and corn), this is comfort in a box right here.  A strong order that travels particularly well for takeout.

Chocolate churros for dessert are always kiddo approved:)

We’re just thrilled this cool little spot has surfaced in our neighbourhood.  We’re proud to call LVT our new local.  The lines suggest that we’re not the only ones!
