General Information

Microdesmis caseariifolia is an evergreen shrub or a tree usually growing up to 15 metres tall with occasional plants up to 30 metres. The straight bole is up to 25cm in diameter, widely branched above the middle[, ].
The plant is harvested from the wild for local use as a medicine and source of wood.

Cultivation Details

The plant grows in the wild on clay-loam, loam, sandy loam, sand, sandstone, limestone, granite, ultrabasic alluvial deposits, ultramafic chromite soils[].
The plant can flower and produce fruit all year round[].
A dioecious species, both male and female forms need to be grown if fruit and seed are required[].
