Perennial; stems many, decumbent, 15-25 cm, ± densely eglandular tomentose or villous; many sterile shoots present. Leaves triangular-ovate, 7-14 x 5-12 mm, greyish-white, densely adpressed velutinous tomentose, erenulate, truncate or subcordate; petiole 2-12 mm. Inflorescence short, unbranched; cymes ± condensed into distant verticillasters, shortly pedunculate. Bracts leaf-like, tomentose, petiolate; bracteoles ± linear, shorter than or ± equal to calyx. Calyx tubular, c. 6.5 mm, slightly curved, scarcely oblique at mouth, villous with eglandular hairs, very short glandular papillae and sessile glands; teeth narrowly lanceolate, acute, c. 1/3 length of tube, ± regular. Corolla c. 10 mm tube narrow, curved, abruptly widened at throat, included within calyx teeth. Nutlets ± oblong, c. 1.8 x 1 mm, tuberculate overall. Fl. 7-8. Rocky slopes and rocky places in woods, 60-2900 m.
Endemic. E. Medit. element. Although apparently distinct on the character of foliaceous bracts, N. phyllochlamys is very close to N. isaurica.
