Densely caespitose perennial, to 8 cm, glandular-puberulent throughout. Flowering and sterile stems arising from caudex and woody caudiculi. Leaves 3-8 mm, setaceous or subulate-setaceous, prominently 3-veined, ciliate at base. Inflorescense contracted, 3-8-flowered; bracts 3-4mm, broadly ovate and broadly membranous-margined, equalling or slightly shorter than pedicels. Sepal ovate-lanceolate to lanceolate, 5-5,5 mm, acute, sparsely glandular-puberulent; herbaceous strips prominent, half as narrow as sepals, scarcely percurrent to apex. Petals white, oblong-elliptic, cuneate, rounded at apex, subequalling sepals. Stamens 10, fertile or sterile; filaments of fertile stamens 2/3 petals. Fertile anthers oblong, c. 1mm, sterile anthers c. 0,4mm. Capsule many ovulate. Fl. 5. Open rocky and gravelly places, c.1250 m.
