Kidnapping for ransom has resurfaced in the oil-producing Niger Delta region of Nigeria where the state has since 2009 launched the most comprehensive and expensive peace-building policy in the nation’s history. Since 2009, about 30,000 fighters had been disarmed and demobilised and their reintegration is ongoing to both local and international acclaim. However, this study reveals that while the amnesty programme and its disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration (DDR) corollary have drastically reduced direct confrontation between insurgents and state troops, the peace deal indirectly promotes further violence. Politicised peace building has transformed many youth who took to rebellion into millionaires to the envy of others who now resort to violent activities such as oil theft, sea piracy and ransom kidnapping. In addition, many of the initial grievances that led to conflict in the region, including socio-economic marginalisation, youth unemployment, relative poverty and environmental damage, still subsist and continue to propel violence. It is suggested that the state should accelerate massive infrastructure development that maximises benefits to Niger Delta communities rather than individuals, and reinvigorate basic services at the grass roots to minimise the incentives for violence.

Years after the expiration of the program, it was however renewed for another period of time. The question in the mind of many is that, who benefits from AGOA? What is the impact of AGOA on our Agricultural Sector? Is it another style of Colonialism?

We are look at the impact of Nigeria's democracy on our education since independence in 1960 and how well we can improve on what we already have. This paper was delivered by me in a Summit put together by University of Benin students under the umbrella of National Association of Edo State Students (NAESS).

The Niger Delta as a region has drawn the attentions of both domestic and
international authorities with ferment interest. This arises from two factors,
first, the region is a home to the hydrocarbon deposits that provides much
revenue to the Nigerian state and multinational corporations, and secondly,
the region is fraught with incessant conflicts that are recently violently. The
content and crux of the violent conflicts demonstrate the attempts seeking
to remediate the governance failure, overt adoption and practice of a faulty
federalism, and its attendant marginalization and exclusion manifestations.
This study seeks to examine the security challenges and its effect on the
nation state by these “violent-non-state actors” such as Niger Delta
Militants. Furthermore, this study adopted “Frustration-Aggression
Hypothesis and discovered that actions of these various militant groups
have not only challenged the security of the Nigerian state but also
collapsed the economy of the nation.

This work examines the problem of the international consequences of the pragmatic model of American foreign relations currently in application worldwide. As a guiding principle the pragmatically inclined US foreign policy suggests the belief in rule of the strong and might is right as determinants of US relations in the world order. We find that this situation triggers a crisis of turbulent and disruptive global relations between North and South, East and West, that has brought the problem of world peace to the front burner. Wars, conflicts and uprisings in different regions specifically the Middle East, Asia and Africa arouse reflections on our international relations models. Hence the quest for peace understood as creating enduring atmosphere of social justice, negotiation for all in the world. We recommend a more ethical or moral foundations of the present and future role of America as a global player in the search for peace. As such we are concerned with the international aspects especially the ethical dimensions of US leadership features that could enhance world peace.
