Newly-developed Exilim Engine 4.0 Representing a significant upgrade from the Exilim Engine 3.0, the Exilim Engine 4.0 is a powerful electronic package comprised of an ordinary CPU and a high-speed dedicated image processing CPU. Dynamic Photo function Thanks to the high-speed image processing capability of the new engine, a moving subject can be cut out of a number of images that have been shot and combined with a different still shot that forms the background. A unique digital camera image where only the main subject in the photo is moving can be created using just the camera, with no editing on a computer.
Tracking AF Using the image analysis technology in the new engine, the ability of the auto focus function to automatically follow a moving subject has been refined. In addition to improvements to the accuracy of auto focus tracking, when a subject leaves the frame the camera makes a record of it, and when the same subject once again enters the frame it is recognized by the camera, and auto focusing is resumed.
Makeup function In addition to recognizing faces and adjusting focus and exposure accordingly, the S5 can make adjustments to smooth skin in images and soften facial shadows caused by sunlight, creating beautiful photographs of people’s faces. The photographer can choose from one of twelve levels of skin beauty using different strengths of image processing, and can shoot after viewing the results in the LCD monitor.
HD Movie function Just by pressing the dedicated movie button, the S5 will record beautiful HD movies at a size of 1280x720 pixels.

I bought the camera used, and the seller said that it has a crack in the lens ring but that it doesn't effect the camera (other than that the lens will stick occasionally when the lens retracts). Ever since I got the camera, it will go blurry, this becoming more common the longer I have the camera). I just got back from a camera repair shop and they said that the crack in the lens ring keeps throwing the lens out of sync with the rest of the camera. They want $150 to repair. I basically bought a paperweight
I've had this camera a bit over a month now and it takes great pictures whether day or night. It is very easy to understand and operate. The on/off button is a bit tricky. It takes great movies as well except that I can't seem to get the volume right whenever I'm recording from a concert (with extremely loud music in the background). This can be unbearable when you're reviewing the movie/video clip and the sound is not really clear. *perhaps someone can tell me how to set the volume correctly before recording a movie clip*
Buy this camera if you're looking for something really simple without much complications. It is very slim and can slip into your handbag easily. Great camera overall!!
The camera itself is really good. Takes quality pictures and its easy to use. However i have had to send this camera twice to the repair shop because the lens keeps jamming. The only way i would suggest the camera is if you are not gonna take it outside. In other words this is a camera to have around the house... which means its an expensive camera for its purpose.
This is my second Exilim camera. I gave my 7.5 mp to my daughter-in-law and treated myself to a 10 mp. Easy to use and I've gotten some great photos. I don't like carrying a large purse these days, so the size was very appealing. I can carry it in a pocket or put it in my purse with my cell phone, billfold and sunglasses and still not need a very big bag. Not so good for action shots, but fine for portrait or landscape.

camera was working great until the shutter stopped opening on it. It is under warranty for one year as long as they don't say it looks like we damaged it. WEll, we will see how that goes. No scratches or damage on it that we can tell. One minute it was working next minute shutter doesn't open and camera says Lens Error on it.
Make sure you save your receipt and box info for one year.

The battery life is pretty good, but I would prefer a camera that takes double AA's this has a lithium battery that you take out and put on a charger that comes with the camera. Can't do anything with the camera until you charge the battery or have a secound battery for it.
Edited, It took months and several phone calls to remind them they had our camera, At first they told me it could be fixed, no problem. Then it couldn't be fixed, Then they just forgot to ship me out a new one. Finally a new one arrived. they were always polite on the phone and answered fairly quickly, didn't shuffle me around to different departments, but things didn't move very quickly.
Because of the design flaw with the shutter, this camera should be carried in a small protective case and not just carried loose in your purse or luggage, or back pack, It will not knock the shutter off track and the camera wont turn on.
