During the past 12-months, -110- Catalytic Converter and Other Vehicle Parts Thefts were reported to North Hollywood LAPD, North Hollywood and Van Nuys LAPD Divisions invite you to a FREE Catalytic Converter VIN Etching Event: WHEN: Saturday April 20 from 9AM to 2PM WHERE: Church of Scientology Parking Lot 11452 Burbank Blvd. west of Lankershim North Hollywood, CA 91601 For additional information, call North Hollywood LAPD Auto Detectives at 818.754.8443. Per North Hollywood LAPD, etching a converter with your license plate or VIN number may be a deterrent. It will assist police to track the converter in the event it is stolen. As a reminder, Toyota Prius vehicles are primary targets for catalytic converter thefts. NOTE: In 9/2022, Governor Gavin Newsom signed two new laws (SB 1087 and AB 1740), which will increase penalties for buyers who fail to certify that a Catalytic Converter wasn't stolen. As of 1/1/2023, it will be illegal in California to buy Catalytic Converters from anyone other than licensed auto dismantlers or dealers.
