FINLAND – Eric Perrin '97, the all-time leading goal scorer for the UVM men's hockey program, became the all-time leading scorer among foreign-born players in the Finnish Elite League on Thursday night.
Perrin has accumulated 480 points on 166 goals and 314 assists during his 11 seasons in Finland, including a team-high 15 goals and 25 points in 27 games for TPS Turku this year. The Quebec native previously spent five seasons with JyP HT Jyvaskyla from 2010-15 before signing with TPS.
"On behalf of our players and coaches, past and present, congratulations to Eric for reaching this incredible milestone in his career," said head coach
Kevin Sneddon.
Perrin is the only Catamount ever to score more than 100 goals in a career, finishing his four years with 107. He ranks second in program history in points with 256, just 11 behind his former classmate and linemate Martin St. Louis '97.
Perrin and St. Louis helped lead Vermont to its first-ever NCAA Frozen Four in the 1995-96 season, during which UVM won 27 games. That year, Perrin was recognized as the ECAC Player of the Year.
Perrin and St. Louis also won the 2004 Stanley Cup as teammates with the Tampa Bay Lightning. Perrin spent parts of four seasons in the NHL with the Lightning and Atlanta Thrashers.
