Jeremy Allen White
Jeremy Allen White is an American actor, best known for his starring roles on the Showtime series “Shameless” and the Hulu series “The Bear.” Born on Feb. 17, 1991 in New York, White took an interest in performance arts from a young age. His first screen credit came in 2006 in the feature “Beautiful Ohio.” In 2011, he emerged as a rising talent with “Shameless,” in which he played Philip, the eldest son to William H. Macy’s alcoholic patriarch Frank Gallagher. The comedy-drama series followed the Gallagher family’s misadventures staying afloat as working class Americans. The series was a pillar at Showtime, running for 11 seasons from 2011 to 2021. In a later interview, White expressed gratitude and affection for the series, while also voicing mixed feelings about sticking with a production for more than 10 years, saying that “it was an upsetting head space to be in. When it was going to end, I was questioning: maybe I do just exist on this show.” White found his star-making role soon after, leading “The Bear” as Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto,” an ingenious but intense culinary artisan who takes over the Chicago restaurant formerly operated by his deceased brother. White earned acclaim for his performance on the series, landing his first Primetime Emmy Award nomination for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series. The actor has also drawn accolades from the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the Golden Globe Awards and the Critics’ Choice Television Awards. Notable film credits include “The Iron Claw,” “Movie 43” and “Afterschool.”
